Beyond Prescriptions: Impacting Lives Through Pharmacy

pharmacist story Apr 22, 2024

Are you ready to turn your passion for helping others into a great career? Dalhousie University’s PharmD program isn’t just about textbooks and tests—it’s your gateway to becoming a hero in your community. Imagine a career where every day you make a real difference—sounds awesome, right?

Let’s talk about Greg Richard (BScPh'16), owner of Boyd’s Pharmasave. He’s not your average pharmacist. Growing up in a small town, Greg saw his parents interact with their pharmacists, who were more like friends than just health care providers. Inspired by this, Greg has made it his mission to keep that vibe alive in his own pharmacy. It’s all about connections, knowing people by name, and really being there for them. This personal touch has made him a staple in his community.

Greg’s top advice for aspiring pharmacists? “Pharmacy is what you make it. If you want to be someone who truly impacts your patients' lives, see yourself as a key part of their health care. Be open to evolving and playing a larger role in patient care.” It’s about more than just filling prescriptions—it’s about building relationships and being a part of your community’s health and wellness.

Our PharmD program starts in September 2024 and is designed to equip you with the skills you need to thrive in the fast-evolving world of pharmacy. We focus on problem-based learning and hands-on experiences that prepare you to step out and make a difference immediately.
